Occupational Therapy (OT)

Liz Gonka graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and from the College of St. Mary’s in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. She practiced Occupational Therapy at the Immanuel Rehabilitation Center in Omaha before joining the Columbus Community Hospital Rehab team in 2006. Liz has completed 135 hours of specialized training in the treatment of lymphedema and is certified by the Lymphology Association of North America. She is also certified in the LEBED Method , a specialty exercise program for cancer survivors and others who benefit from a gentle movement program. In addition to treating patients with lymphedema or swelling issues, Liz also treats patients as an outpatient basis with focus on orthopedic hand injuries. In her free time, Liz enjoys spending time with her family, Creighton basketball, and reading.

Jill Jakub received her Master’s of Occupational Therapy degree from Rockhurst University in 2005. She joined Columbus Community Hospital staff in October of 2009. In addition to her formal training, Jill completed a 135 hours of specialized training to become a Certified Lymphedema therapist. Jill works with a variety of conditions such as lymphedema, upper extremity and hand injuries and neurological deficits. She provides Occupational Therapy services in the outpatient, in-patient and home health care settings. Jill enjoys spending time with her family, Husker athletics, sporting activities and reading.

Julie received her Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in 1996.She began her career at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital where she worked on the head injury unit until 1999. Julie then worked for Key Rehab in rural nursing homes and hospitals as a therapist and regional supervisor until joining the CCH Rehab Team in 2006.

Julie specializes in head injury, stroke, and orthopedic rehabilitation. She focuses her practice on treating all aspects of physical and cognitive function with an overall goal of returning individuals to independence. She is certified in thermal and electrical modalities and has training in splinting and hand therapy. Julie treats patients in all settings; acute care, swing bed, outpatient and home health.

Julie and her husband, Jamie, live in Columbus with their three young children.

Megan graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and history in 2004 and again in 2006 earning her Master’s of Science for Occupational Therapy. She joined the Columbus Community Hospital Rehabilitation team in 2008. Shortly after, she completed her certification for lymphedema therapy and became a Handwriting Without Tears specialist. Her interests also include vision rehabilitation, neuromuscular rehabilitation, hand therapy, and acute care therapy. Megan enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with family and friends.

Tanya received her Associates of Science Degree in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Apollo College in Phoenix, Arizona in May of 1998. Tanya joined the Columbus Community Hospital Rehab Team in December of 2007. She practices in the acute care, outpatient, swing bed and home health environments. Tanya also has experience in rural skilled nursing facilities as both a therapist and a regional supervisor. Tanya and her husband, Carl, live in Columbus with their two children, Valerie and Brock.
