Overdose deaths, particularly from prescription drugs and heroin, have reached epidemic levels, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. This makes regional anesthesia and chronic pain management more valuable than ever. That is why Columbus Community Hospital has expanded the services of our anesthesia department.

Certified nurse anesthetists
Our certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) perform more than a dozen different nerve blocks and also utilize Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and opioid-free anesthesia. As a result, CCH patients are having less postoperative pain and nausea, which results in earlier discharge.

Joint-replacement pain management
On top of that, CCH’s anesthesia staff also play a large role in patients’ preadmission process through the SURGE Center. As part of this program, CRNAs work with joint-replacement patients before surgery to discuss anesthetic options and determine if they need further tests. The goal of this assessment is to create a better rapport with patients and their families. It also helps lessen patient anxiety about potential procedures.
