Volunteer & guest services

Columbus Community Hospital has more than 280 volunteers. Combined, they have given more than 20,000 hours of their time to CCH in the past year alone.

CCH volunteers provide high-quality service to CCH’s patients, families, visitors and medical staff. They also provide hands-on service as an extension of the health care team, and develop fundraising strategies that support medical equipment purchases and program advancements for the hospital.

In short, they’re an invaluable part of our team.

What CCH volunteers so:
CCH volunteers give of their time, knowledge and skills in hospital departments such as the Child Care Center and Rehabilitative Services, among many others.

They also assist patients in The Gift Shop and at the hospital and Healthpark Medical Office Building information desks.

Volunteers act as guides; visit patients; provide clerical support; assist with supplies, purchasing and distribution; run the beverage cart and help with special events such as blood drives or fundraisers.

When you volunteer at CCH, you receive a  assignment that is tailored to your special talents, interests and needs. You also undergo orientation and receive training before starting your work as a volunteer.

Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award
The Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award is an award that recognizes and celebrates volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help Columbus Community Hospital and its patients, patients’ families, visitors, departments and/or staff. We recognize one of our volunteers with this special honor each year.
  • Any current Columbus Community Hospital volunteer who has made a significant impact on a department, patient or patient's family or the delivery of patient care is eligible for this award.
  • Patients, patients' families, visitors, nurses, physicians, CCH staff and volunteers are welcome to nominate a deserving volunteer.
  • CCH makes a surprise announcement as part of the annual volunteer recognition event, "Celebrating Service," which takes place in April each year in conjunction with National Healthcare Volunteer Recognition Week. The person(s) who nominated the honoree will also be invited to attend and participate in the celebration. Nominations received after the winner is chosen for that year will be eligible for the next Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award.
To nominate a CCH volunteer for this award, download the nomination form here (PDF) or complete the nomination form online.
